  Sims is what every video game should strive to look like. Just by looking at the advertisements and previews of the game you can see that a lot of the concepts we discussed in class are within this particular game. The first is the representation of people throughout this game. You can choose from almost every race from black to white to green. They even have certain features that fit each person as well which is very cool. Along with customizations, you can also add personality to your character throughout the game. For example, your character can be silly, motivated, a flirt, or even a goofball. These are adjectives that are relatable to something that a real person in the real world could have. Since this game is so similar to our world it’s fairly easy to become immersed in the game and to play it for several hours without noticing that it’s been that long. Temple Run

Temple Run is a game that most of us played in middle school however, I just recently downloaded it again and I love it! It's a game that I use to pass time and to just play for fun. Temple run has a very interesting art perception. Each month or so it changes to match the season or holiday that is currently happening. For example, during this month they will show a spring/ bunny-themed game that is shown throughout the game. They’ll have the coins that you collect in the game be easter eggs and instead of the normal monster, he’ll have on a bunny suit.  Another interesting aspect of the game is you have to use multiple strategies throughout. Sometimes you'll have to slide and the next second, you'll be jumping over or under trees it's a game of surprises each time you play. They have very good representation throughout this game as well you begin the game with a white male who has ginger hair. However, if you play the game long enough you can unlock an African American

Yahtzee

I've only played Yahtzee 3 times ever and It's always been with my boyfriend's family. To me, this game was very confusing and takes a lot of brainwork. However, when I play it with other people It's a lot easier to do. The object of the game is to roll the dice to see who gets the highest score out of 13 rounds. Yes! This game also takes a while to finish espe cially if you’re playing with more than 4 players in my case, I was playing with 6 and it took a very long time.  You can also roll up to three dice at a time which was new to me since I always play games with one dice.  Also, each time you roll the dice it comes with another set of rules for example, for the first roll you roll all five of the dice  if you get the numbers, you were looking for then you write your score down if not you go to the second roll. It’s kind of a game of luck because you’re using dice.

Pandemic the board game

I was one of the last people to pick my board game for project 2 not knowing that the library had very interesting board games. As the person at the desk brought the games out for me to see I instantly saw Pandemic stand out with its yellow and red lettering. The visuals also stood out to me with 4 characters you had looks of urgency on their faces. It was so cool to play a game about something that the whole world is going through. Pandemic is described as a cooperative game because you can lose as a team or win as a team. Each player (there are 7 to chose from) has a certain job that they have to complete throughout the game.  There are 4 different diseases that the elite team of disease-fighters has to find a cure for. The board game is a map of the whole world so you never know which part of the world can be affected by deadly diseases. One thing that I found that was interesting about Pandemic was it was created by Matt Leacock in 2008 years before the actual Pandemic happened, I

How do board games implement teamwork?

       Have you ever played a board game and got on teams with another person? And sometimes it just happens you just have that person that you look out for within the game. In this week’s blog post I will talk about how board games use teamwork and how it is implemented within them. The purpose of a board game that has teamwork weaved into its rulebook is to show you that you have to work together to win this game weathers it’s 2 vs. 2 or you are all working together to complete a game such as my board game pandemic. These types of board games also help bring people together as most boardgames do however, in this particular board game you are put with other people and you can essentially when or lose the game together.   There are also several benefits from playing games such as these you are forced to work with others and help them as well as you keep yourselves afloat to win the game. Millennials still playing video games?

  Ageism within gaming is something that is often seen and isn’t always looked over in today’s society. 2 in 3 millennials play video games more than once a week which I found out in an article done by superdata research. You may sometimes hear parents or older adults who don’t play video games say they don’t like seeing adults play video games. They are looking at video games as something that should be left to children and teenagers. There are different reasons why a person in the millennial age group plays video games. Most of the games that’re played by the 25-34-year-old age group are now a form of trans-mediation they were once games they played when they were younger and have since come out with newer versions of the game. It could also be an example of them trying to enjoy a piece of their childhood that they can no longer have and chose video games instead. Family Feud

Family Feud is an all-time favorite game show that has been on television since 1976. It is a think-fast trivia game that questions your ability to think on your feet. It includes the sport aspect of rhetoric with its rules, application, and competition. In family feud you're going against another family in different rounds of the game. However, this game is an example of trans mediation which is the conversion of a book, movie etc. being transformed into another type of media which is different from the original. For instance, family feud is a tv show but has since been made into a several other editions which are in retrospect the same but have a twist with different questions or the Disney family feud which is for younger children, family feud block buster and many more editions of the game with the same concept.
