The game of LIFE

Image
The game of Life is one of my all-time favorite board games as a child I was able to not only make somewhat realistic adult choices but was also able to immerse myself into certain situations that I’ve actually been through goring up such as picking a college and a major. The main theme of this game is to travel the path of LIFE making decisions, building a family, earning money, and paying money out to others as well. LIFE has endless possibilities on how it could end    This game has many different aspects included that we’ve discussed in class such as the different outcomes you get to decide how many kids you want, what career you want. LIFE follows ludology with the set rules and also the process you have to go through to get to the end of the game. I often think about where I was physically when playing life which goes into the material elements of the game. Most of the time I was playing with a group of my family members or friends either at home or at school...

Minority Representation in Gamaing

African Americans are always represented more in games such as sports and not seen as much in other games such as adventure, action, or interactive fiction. If we look at the game that came out in the 2000s we can...

Most people when  they think about the effects video games have on you think negative thoughts. They think of things such as lack of motivation, how you interact with others and how you develop relationships with others. However, the effects it has on your brain scientists have shown are very significant and can are healthy and positive impacts on people of all ages. One example that was shown is the improvements in attention such as sustained attention and selective attention. Studies have shown that the regions of the brain that play a role in attention are more efficient in gamers compared to those that don’t play games the study says, “require less activation to stay focused on demanding task”. Another part of the brain that demonstrates a positive effect is that video games increase the size and competence of parts of the brain responsible for the visuospatial skills which help with the ability to identify visual and spatial relationships among objec...
